Prelude. I absolutely love Shetland motifs and I certainly wanted to wear in the summer. SO I have designed one with linen/cotton yarn and beaded heavily this dress for festive mood.
Construction of the dress.
On US 4 knitted 14 reps of one of the Shetland classic motifs. Then, picked up 160 sts around the border and started to knit in rounds Row 1-188, then my own fantasy kicked in to fill in the blanks when I reached armsye. Dress is knitted on rounds for the most part except for the border and section from armsye to collar.
Beads. I bought awesome beads from Gilding Lillie's company that was easy to work with large holes.
Belt. The awesome part that this time I have a drawstring detail: a double fabric hiding the cord inside. I can change out the "belt" for whatever mood I am. The cord is NOT weaved through, it literally glides through the entire dress. Looks so professional!
Collar. Collar is embellished with fringe consisted of the yarn of the dress, cord from the belt and lamb's locks. It looks so lofty and I am in love with it!
