My tutorials. See my tutorial how to block dresses: https://www.heavenlyclassyknits.com/tutorials

Prelude. I have made this dress for a 16 year old girl, who lost her 14 year old brother tragically on Nov 8, 2014. The whole community was shaken and grieved tremendously. Since the dress looks so light and fluffy, almost like a puff of cloud, I want the white color of dress help her focus on heavenly things and angels grieving with her and will represent the Holiness of God. Last 1.5 rep x 26R was knitted with pink and red-orange cascade yarns. These colors contrast will represent the nearness of the second coming of the LORD (like a rising sun). The dress was beaded with cream and clear beads that will represent her tears and angels’ which God will wipe away (Isaiah 25:8: He will swallow up death forever; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces…)

Construction the dress. It does not look like the pattern, but all motifs come from the pattern: chevron lace and popcorn sts. Yoke, seamless, top down, circular, sleeveless.

Top section. Cast on 96 sts on US 7 and knitted in pop corn sts for several rows, switched to US 10 and cont in pop corn sts until yoke measure 3”. Increased st count 20 sts for each sleeve and also added 20 sts for armpit area when separating sleeves from bodice. Binded off sleeve area, joined the remaining sts for the bodice. Cont to knit bodice in popcorn sts (136 sts) until piece reached natural waist line. Binded off all sts and on the next row inserted elastic using crochet hook. This elastic will allow the girl to have an adjustable waist line without using the belt.

Skirt section. On the next row picked up sts all around the top waist line and increased sts to 352 sts for 8 sts x 44 reps for skirt flare and cont to knit in chevron lace. I did not wanted the skirt to be extremely full because it will be harder for this girl to take care of it. The flare is just perfect, however! The skirt is 3.5 x 26R reps long. Last 1.5 reps x 26R was knitted with blush and terracotta cascade yarns.

Slip. Peach lace dress (purchased).

Mics notes. Yes, large needles help a lot to knit any project fast. Mohair fluff helps to fill in the void created by the large needles. The overall effect: light, delicate and angle like garments! Love this dress. I hope this girl will like it too.
