My tutorials. See my tutorial how to block dresses: https://www.heavenlyclassyknits.com/tutorials
Prelude. I need a spring dress with a refreshing color, mint! Cascade kid seta has a perfect 26 Sea grass (mint) color and 24 Aqua (blue-green), so I have decided to combine these 2 colors to create “sea water” effect. Print O’wave pattern is very simple, but beautiful motif.
Top. Bottom up, circular, in rounds to the armsyes then knitted flat for front and the back. Using “26 Sea grass” color yarn, on US 8 casted on 17sts x 9 reps (153sts) . When reached armsye, the front was knitted as foll: only first and last 17 sts was knitted in pattern and all middle sts were binded off. The back was knitted flat all the way to shoulders. The waist was binded off and elastic was inserted using the crochet hook. Collar: Crocheted “Victoria’s lace art” border on 3.25mm hook around the neck with “26 Sea grass” yarn color, beading the last row with aqua/turquoise glass beads. Then the 2nd collar ruffle was knitted in st st pattern using “24 aqua”color yarn beading it randomly to the taste.
Sleeves. Picked up 17sts x 3 reps =51 sts around the armsyes and knitted in mesh pattern (k2 tog, yo) until the desired length was reached. Crocheted last row with single ch. st for a sturdiness.
Skirt. On US 11 picked up sts around the waist and knitted the first row, then increased enough sts for 17 sts x 21 reps = 357 sts total. Place 2 beads per rep on 1st and 6th row. Then skirt measured 12”, switched to 24 Aqua color and needles to US 13 and cont to knit in st sts pattern placing beads sparsely. Skirt measures 26” from high waist.
Accessories. Made shoe clips to match the outfit by making a bead cluster sewn on the bow made out yarn (2 colors).
Overall. The dress is amazingly airy and light, but beads makes it heavier to create drape. Color combination turned out wonderful, which makes this outfit perfect for a blooming spring. This yarn, as usual, is superb for this type of projects.
