Notes on the construction of the dress: This dress is practically 2 doilies. The top is worked in rounds from the neckline to the waist. I used the technique from “ Adult Pancy dress” (yoke). I could knit the whole dress as 1 piece, but I did the skirt first since I was experimenting with this project. Rows #88-103 were used to make the top.
Skirt part: Started with Row 24 on US 7 for 20 rows, then switched to US 8. When I have reached 480 sts in the round, I didn’t want any more flare, so I started the 2nd repetition of 72-104 rows, instead of doing row 73 in the pattern, I did: SK2P, K21, then I did additional row b/w 73 and 74: SK2P, K19. Then, continued to follow the pattern (starting with Row 74). This way I had smooth transition without having more flare (otherwise, I would have over 800 sts). I have added 25 rows to the top of my skirt, so it will sit higher on my waist.Hooray, the skirt part is done. Moving onto the bodice part:
Top. May 4: For the top, I simply repeated over and over Rows 88-103 for the top to create diamonds. I think now the dress looks more connected this way. May 6: Also made 3 roses with beads inside in case if I really need to be dressed up for an occasion.
