Prelude. I saw this doily and was happy to find a translated pattern at Doilyhead. I colored this dress in pale grey and only the fragments (leaves and flowers). The result is very delicate.

Dress Construction. In rounds, yoke, seamless, from top to bottom ( the bodice and skirt that were knitted separately).

Skirt part

Knitted on US 00, casted 162 sts (27 sts x 6 reps) starting from Row 27 and knitted onto Row 86. Then, skipping Rows 87-130, proceeded to Row 131 to the end of the pattern. The reason why I have skipped is because I did not want to have 24 reps, I wanted only 12 resp towards the end of my skirt. Since st amount did not line up going from Row 86 to Row 131, I simply made mesh (or dummy) lace gradually reducing the sts as my reps were growing. After all my extra sts between reps were reduced, I continued as per pattern as is. I was not needing the Row 87-130 because it is just another leave motif that I got from Row 27-86, so worked out perfectly. (April 4-May 8)

The Top part

On US 00 casted 144 sts (24 sts x 6 reps) starting with Row 131 knitted onto Row 207 (That is where the big circular motif ends). The sleeves were separated on Row 177 leaving 34 sts on the sts holder. Then continued to knit bodice to the desired length in the following pattern ( mesh pattern = (itw-dec1, yo) and knitting plain row on the next, the mesh is separated by the cables (cross 4-I) on on every 4 th row as a continuation of the pattern established by the pattern).

Sleeve part

Continue to knit on US 00 from the st holder and casted on additional 34 sts for the armpits. Continued to knit Row 179-207. Then knitted in mesh pattern to match the top (see top instructions).

Finishing touches. Connected the top and the skirt with a crochet hook and inserted elastic. Elastic is also inserted in cuffs and collar for a perfect fit. The cuff and collar was finally finished with 5 rows of single st on the crochet hook.
